Distinguished Professor and Co-Director
Dr. Sam Shen is Distinguished Professor of Mathematics and Statistics, and Co-Director of the Center for Climate and Sustainability Studies at San Diego State University. He is also a Visiting Research Mathematician at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography, UCSD.
Before moving to San Diego in 2006, Dr. Shen was McCalla Professor of Mathematical and Statistical Sciences at the University of Alberta, Canada, and former President of the Canadian Applied and Industrial Mathematics Society. He held a variety of visiting positions at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center, U.S. Climate Prediction Center, and the University of Tokyo.
