Dr. Mitchell is the Dean of the Pott College of Science, Engineering, and Education at the University of Southern Indiana. The college has the largest undergraduate enrollment of the four colleges at USI and houses a wide variety of majors offered through seven academic departments: Biology, Chemistry, Engineering, Geology & Physics, Kinesiology & Sport, Mathematics, and Teacher Education. Dr. Mitchell is a retired USAF officer who previously served as a member of the faculty in the Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering at the USAF Academy. He also served with the Defense Threat Reduction Agency as program manager of a $1B construction program to eliminate chemical weapons arsenals in the former Soviet Union. Dr. Mitchell holds a B.S. in Civil Engineering from the USAF Academy, an MBA from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and an M.S. and Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from Virginia Tech.
