2020 Symposium Keynotes

The 2020 ABET Symposium is quickly approaching, and we’re excited to announce our line-up of inspiring plenary speakers.

This year’s Symposium focus is Data Impact. Dr. Kirk Borne, the principal data scientist and an executive advisor at global technology and consulting firm Booz Allen Hamilton, will open the conference with “Three Steps to Data Impact: The Keynote” on March 31.

A leading thinker in the field of data science, astrophysicist Dr. Borne deploys his extensive knowledge to deliver a personal take on the training of data scientists, achieving data literacy for all and providing data science education through educators, education researchers and accreditors.

On day two of the conference, Dr. Borne will lead an esteemed panel of guests drawn from industry, academia and government in a debate designed to spark a meaningful distillation of the ideas covered in his keynote and provoke probing questions from the audience. Don’t miss “Three Steps to Data Impact: The Debate.”

Panelists will include:

Moorea Brega, Director of Data Science at UrbanFootprint

Charles Isbell, Dean of the College of Computing at the Georgia Institute of Technology

Andrew Phillips, Academic Dean and Provost, U.S. Naval Academy
