How are you preparing your institution, your program, and your students to address the current and future challenges of protecting internet-connected systems, including hardware, software and data, from cyberattacks? Have you taken the role of active adversary into your teaching and programs to ensure security? Have you integrated security themes into engineering, engineering technology or applied science programs in addition to computing? Sessions in this focus area highlight any projects or curriculum innovations that relate to the many topics associated with cybersecurity such as application security, information security, network security, disaster recovery/business continuity planning, operational security, and end-user education.
(Sustainability, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion)
Sustainable development is defined as meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet theirs. Sustainable development seeks to maintain a balance between its three main pillars: social development, economic development and environmental protection. Obtaining a quality education is the foundation for creating sustainable development. Sessions in this focus area demonstrate examples of these pillars integrating into the curriculum. Successful proposals should highlight projects that relate to the NAE Grand Challenges and/or the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and show how you are preparing your students to create solutions to combat climate change, improve accessibility and reduce inequality.
