A program’s self-study report (SSR) provides the accreditation team chair and evaluator their first impression of the program they are reviewing as well as critical information for the review. Thus, a clear and complete SSR helps ensure a successful review process. To provide a favorable picture of your program, information must be aligned with the reader’s expectations and needs. Based on our experience as accreditation commission editors, team chairs and program evaluators, this session will address the self-study report from the visit team’s perspective. We will present best practices for writing an effective self-study report, including elements related to demonstrating compliance with Criterion 4. In addition, we will present a methodology for judging SSR completeness that programs can use before submission of the SSR.
