Şirin Tekinay

Prof. Şirin Tekinay joined American University of Sharjah as Dean of Engineering in February 2020. This follows a decade in Istanbul serving as Dean of Engineering and Natural Sciences, Vice President for Research and Development and Rector. Earlier, she served as Program Director at the United States National Science Foundation, faculty at the New Jersey Institute of Technology, Director of NJ Center for Wireless Telecommunications and researcher at Bell Laboratories. In addition to research and teaching in wireless communication networks and related areas, she has been working in and teaching Gender in Science and Technology. She is the elected ’18-’21 Chair of Global Engineering Deans Council and a Board Member of the European Society for Engineering Education. Tekinay holds a Ph.D. from George Mason University, Virginia, and M.S. and B.S. degrees from Bogazici University, Istanbul.
