Deborah Besser, Ph.D., is the chair of civil engineering and the director of the Center for Engineering Education at the University of St. Thomas. Her research focuses on engineering education including inclusive pedagogy, sustainability and intercultural learning in engineering education. She teaches construction management, engineering economy, engineering education, surveying, engineering design/graphics, materials, steel, timber, concrete and masonry design. Prior to teaching, Besser, a licensed engineer who holds a Ph.D. in education and master’s and bachelor’s in civil engineering, was a design engineer with HNTB-CA.
