Mark Sebern, the 2018-19 chair of the Engineering Accreditation Commission (EAC) Criteria Committee, has been an ABET volunteer since 1998 and currently serves on the EAC Executive Committee. He is a Professor Emeritus at the Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE), where he led the development of one of the first four software engineering programs to be accredited by ABET, in the 2002-03 cycle. Prior to his MSOE service, he was a principal engineer at Digital Equipment Corporation and later worked for 17 years as an independent consulting engineer. Sebern is a member of the CSAB board, a senior member of IEEE and ACM, and a member of Phi Beta Kappa. He has served as a visiting scientist at the Software Engineering Institute (SEI) of Carnegie Mellon University. He holds doctorate and bachelor’s degrees in electrical engineering from Marquette University, and is a registered professional engineer in Wisconsin.
